Overdue for a Heart-Warming Christmas Story?

Here’s a great one…

Last year, the Lassiter Chrous groups raised about $900 for their Adopt-a-Senior program. This program partners the chorus with Cobb County Senior Services to “adopt” homebound seniors and fulfill practical and modest needs. You should recall that all involved were impressed that the chorus could muster such support in rough economic times.

Unbelievably, the chorus groups nearly doubled their contributions that year. They set out to raise money for three “adoptees”. They fulfilled theirs wish lists completely, along with two additional seniors. Not content with helping just five seniors, they contributed the remaining funds to help out on four more seniors’ wish lists.

The Lassiter Chorus is populated by amazing and generous kids. Their contributions impacted the lives of nine homebound seniors in our community. We’re sure that you share our pride in their efforts.

There are more people to thank in this story, though. There are some businesses in our community that factor into the story.

The Mattress Firm in Acworth (3345 Cobb Pkwy NW in the Acworth Avenue Shops shopping center) originally offered a discounted price for a mattress/spring/frame set, but donated it in the end. Kohl’s in Woodstock (120 Woodstock Square Ave in the Woodstock Square shopping center) discounted by 30% anything purchased for the program. Leiters Big & Tall in Marietta (1355 Church Street Extension NW in the Kennestone Plaza shopping center) discounted our purchases, as well.

We hope that you’ll consider these businesses in your Christmas shopping and let them hear your appreciation for their efforts.

A sincere thanks to Deb Speed from the chorus board for her work in coordinating this worthwhile effort. Deb thanks Sara Basler for her assistance in shopping for the lists.

We look forward to this program continuing to touch lives in the future and we’re proud of our kids contribution.
