About Lassiter Chorus

A Tradition of Excellence

The Lassiter Chorus Program has long been recognized as one of Georgia's outstanding high school choral programs. Built upon a tradition of musical excellence, the program provides students with meaningful performance opportunities, exceptional music education, and a supportive community where every singer can thrive.

Each year, Lassiter Chorus students perform throughout the community, participate in statewide festivals and evaluations, audition for honor choirs, and represent Lassiter High School with professionalism and pride. While we celebrate awards and accomplishments, our greatest source of pride is the culture we have created—a culture where students encourage one another, work toward common goals, and discover the joy of making music together.

Regardless of previous experience, every student who enters the rehearsal room has the opportunity to grow as a musician, leader, and person. The chorus room is a place where students are challenged to think critically, perform confidently, and strive for excellence every day.

Philosophy

Performing Arts Education combines creativity, collaboration, discipline, communication, and problem-solving every single day. Students learn to listen, adapt, lead, follow, and work toward a common goal while developing skills that extend far beyond the classroom. In chorus, every voice matters. Each singer has a responsibility to prepare individually while supporting the success of the entire ensemble.

When every student contributes their very best, remarkable things happen.

Rehearsals are built around three expectations:

Work Hard.

Support Others.

Be Consistent.

What Makes Lassiter Chorus Different?

The Lassiter Chorus experience extends far beyond the school day.

Throughout the year, students have opportunities to:

  • Perform multiple concerts in a variety of venues
  • Participate in the Georgia Music Educators Association Large Group Performance Evaluation (LGPE)
  • Audition for District Honor Chorus and All-State Chorus
  • Participate in GHSA Literary Competition
  • Travel and perform throughout Georgia and internationally
  • Serve in student leadership positions
  • Earn varsity letters and academic recognition
  • Receive individual vocal coaching and musical enrichment
  • Build lifelong friendships through shared musical experiences

Many of our students are also heavily involved in athletics, STEM, other music programs, theatre, clubs, Advanced Placement courses, and numerous other organizations. Chorus complements these activities by providing students with a creative outlet and a community that supports both academic and personal success.

AFTER THE NOTES, THE MUSIC BEGINS
