Atlanta Opera Media Release Form - Due 9/15
An Atlanta Opera media release form was sent home with your child this week. I am also attaching a copy to this email in case you need another one.
Please return the completed form by Tuesday, September 15. We will have media representatives from both The Atlanta Opera and Cobb County School District present during portions of the residency, so it is important that we have these forms returned.
I’m excited to share a special opportunity for our chorus students! Over the next several weeks, Lassiter Chorus will participate in a residency with The Atlanta Opera as part of our opera unit and preparation for our Fall Concert.
Throughout the residency, students will have the opportunity to work directly with Atlanta Opera artists, educators, and clinicians. Our upcoming experiences include:
- September 11: Choral Clinic with Walter Huff, Atlanta Opera Chorus Master
- September 15: Activating Opera Workshop
- September 17: Science of Singing Workshop with Dr. Anne Slovin, Assistant Professor of Voice at UGA
- October 2: Choral Clinic with Walter Huff, Atlanta Opera Chorus Master
- October 6: Lassiter Chorus Fall Concert, featuring guest artists Page Michels, soprano; Ashlyn Brown, mezzo-soprano; and Jay Hunter Morris, tenor
- October 7: Opera Roundtable with our guest artists
This residency gives our students the opportunity to experience opera beyond simply rehearsing the music. They will work with professional musicians, explore the science and technique behind singing, and learn more about opera directly from professionals in the field.
We are so excited to partner with The Atlanta Opera and bring this experience to our students. I can’t wait for you to hear the results on October 6!
